Mini family photoshoot in Blagden Alley in Washington DC • Urban family photography
This post is a little bit personal after what happened in Paris last week. I shot this session the Sunday following the tragic attacks. I felt (and still feel) very emotional about it as lots of friends and relatives live there but thankfully everyone is safe. These events made me realize even more how life is precious and how random events can change the course of our lives. That's why photography is so important to me. Not only because it makes us remember the moments and how we felt but also because it shows the love, the attentions, the connection, the kindness. And the time that goes by.
I didn't postpone the session and without even acknowledging it first, it soothed me. Watching this lovely family laughing and hugging was all what mattered. Because more than ever, I want to stand up and laugh, drink, eat, love and hold my kids in my arms. I am glad that photography allows me to record the many big and little things that I treasure daily. It really means a lot to me.
And I think LOVE is all we need right now.
For this session, Betsy picked this rad location she knows very well: the streets around the design agency where she works! Those back alleys are really photogenic and we had a blast exploring around. I really felt inspired and I would love to do some more urban sessions like this. If there is an awesome place you love in DC, let's do it there.
Also, lucky us, the coffee shop La Colombe is right in the middle of it all. Their giant cookie and milk were much appreciated by the little man.
A little man who is turning 4 in a few days.
Happy Birthday W. You are loved.
