Why You Should Consider a Fresh 48 Photo Session for Your Newborn • Maryland Fresh 48 photographer
Hey there, new parents-to-be! Congratulations on the upcoming arrival of your bundle of joy. As you're preparing for this exciting chapter in your life, there's something I want to introduce you to: Fresh 48 photo sessions.
Maryland Fresh 48 photographer
So, what exactly is a Fresh 48 session?
It's a unique opportunity to capture those precious moments with your newborn within the first 48 hours of their life. Think of it as a way to freeze those fleeting moments in time when your baby is brand new and you're basking in the magic of parenthood. These sessions happen in the first couple of days after your baby's born, right there in your hospital room or at home.
No stress, no pressure
Unlike traditional newborn photo shoots that often take place in a studio setting, a Fresh 48 session with a documentary approach is all about keeping things relaxed and natural. There's no need to worry about dressing up, tidying up the house or preparing props. Instead, you can focus on bonding with your new arrival while I capture those candid moments of love and connection. You're still in that bubble of the hospital room, away from the outside world.
Isn’t It… too soon?
Becoming parents is a monumental milestone and a Fresh 48 session is a great way to document the beginning of this incredible journey. From the moment you first lay eyes on your baby to those quiet moments of bonding as a family, every aspect of this new chapter deserves to be remembered. And while you might snap a million pics on your phone, nothing beats having a pro capture these new beginnings (but I might be biased!).
how can WE schedule a photo session when We don't even know when the baby's coming?
Fair question! Babies have a knack for arriving when they please, but we usually have a rough idea. I block off time around your due date and stay local as it gets closer. My clients booking Fresh 48 sessions commit to staying at the hospital for at least two nights, which is standard for vaginal deliveries. This ensures we have ample time to schedule the session during visiting hours. Fortunately, couples usually have a relatively open schedule during the initial 48 hours, so arranging a convenient time isn't usually an issue!
And what if we've had a rough time with the birth or recovery?
If you're not up for photos, no worries. We'll just shift things to an in-home newborn session when you're feeling better. Once you’re home, a bit more settled in your new routine, and feeling healed, we’ll find a mutually available date.
I would love to have my older kid with us
They're totally welcome to join in! Whether it's a family snuggle pile or just you and the new baby, it's all good. In those first couple of days after your baby is born, you're experiencing a whirlwind of emotions – joy, wonder (maybe even a little bit of exhaustion) and older kids too! Welcoming a baby brother or sister can rock your world! A Fresh 48 session allows to capture all of these raw and authentic emotions, creating memories that you'll cherish for a lifetime. And don't worry about space – hospital rooms might not be huge, but we'll make it work.
As a MD newborn photographer, an hospital newborn session allows me to capture all of the sweet details in stunning clarity, ensuring that you can look back on them and marvel at just how small your little one once was.
